The new 3Catinfo studio of Televisió de Catalunya (TV3), belonging to the Corporació Catalana de Mitjans Audiovisuals (CCMA), was inaugurated last September with a technological staging that marks a before and after in television production.

A space that combines innovation, sustainability and unprecedented visual quality, designed for the network's flagship program: " Telenotícies" in all its versions.

TV3 opts for MiniLED Traulux technology for its flagship program

For an intensive 24/7 broadcast environment, TV3 has relied on Traulux T-Rent MiniLED technology, with a 1.9 mm pitch, which offers high brightness, energy efficiency and a DCI-P3 color coverage of 99.5%, ensuring accurate color reproduction and an impeccable on-camera image.

The heart of the set is a 147 m² (42 × 3.5 m) perimeter LED screen that wraps around three-quarters of the studio and creates an immersive environment with a great visual impact.

In addition to this, there are three vertical totem-type screens (2.5 × 3.5 m) , two mobile screens on the walls and a central rotating screen of 180º 360º , known as the “giratutto”, a pioneering solution in news environments worldwide.

Comprehensive design with the Traulux T-Rent family

The project combines different models of cabinets from the Traulux T-Rent family, capable of adapting to the set's scenographic needs:
  • Perimeter display: combination of T-Rent MiniLED and T-Rent Flex, which allows the creation of continuous curved surfaces without visual interruptions.
  • Totems and turntables: T-Rent VR integration, with a 90º convex design that provides lateral continuity and a unique wraparound finish.
This versatility has allowed the CCMA technical teams to configure a dynamic and modular visual environment, true to the contemporary language of Telenotícies .

NovaStar COEX processors: precision and absolute control

For video system management, the studio incorporates the new COEX series from NovaStar , the latest generation of professional LED processors.

The system consists of two COEX MX-6000 processors, configured in Master and Backup mode, and a network of CVT10-S optical transceivers, guaranteeing stability, redundancy and operational flexibility.

The use of the COEX series has been key to achieving a 7680 Hz refresh rate and 99.5% DCI-P3 color depth . Thanks to the 22-bit algorithm of the A10s Pro receiver cards, outstanding grayscale is achieved, essential for the visual fidelity required by a news studio like Telenotícies.

A new technological benchmark in television

The combination of Traulux T-Rent LED screens and NovaStar COEX processors has resulted in a state-of-the-art studio that positions TV3 and CCMA as European benchmarks in audiovisual innovation.

“We are very pleased with the integration of this technology, which not only improves the visual narrative of Telenotícies, but also positions the CCMA as a pioneer in the adoption of innovative solutions for television production,” highlights Pauli Subirà i Claramunt , director of Image and Artistic Services at the CCMA.
