6 May 2025

Theatres across Galicia are hosting the innovative Corentena: Game Over, a play that blends real characters with those of a video game, all supported by a large 18-metre LED display. In this experience, audience participation is one of the big innovations.

Starring Xosé A. Touriñán and David Perdomo, two leading names in Galician comedy, Corentena: Game Over bills itself as the first “theatrical video game” in history. The show has won over audiences since its premiere in early March 2025, selling more than 10,000 tickets on its first tour. It is produced by Ainé, one of Galicia's most established performing arts companies.

Ainé has positioned itself as the leading performing arts producer in Galicia, with more than 60,000 spectators a year in the region alone. For this innovative production it has teamed up with Sonpress as technology partner to integrate a T-Rent  3.9 L LED display into a highly unconventional stage. Covering 18 square metres, the display becomes a key element of the show, allowing the comedians to interact in real time while the audience takes an active part in the game.

In recent years, Ainé has been behind some of Galicia's most successful theatre productions. Its track record includes well-known titles such as Unha noite na praia, Fariña and Corentena itself. But it was with Somos Criminais that it reached a historic milestone: becoming the highest-grossing show in Galician theatre, with more than 120,000 spectators.

Behind these achievements lies not only artistic vision but also technical effort, where Sonpress has been a key ally. Based in Carballo (A Coruña) and with more than 30 years' experience, the company has been involved in productions and events, providing technical coverage and technology solutions.

The partnership between Ainé and Sonpress is built on a shared commitment to quality and innovation. Together they work side by side on productions that captivate thousands of spectators every weekend. Mutual trust and coordination between the teams are key to that success, backed by constant investment in technology, such as that made by Sonpress to integrate Traulux LED displays.

Although Ainé had already explored resources such as sound, projection and lighting, it was with the premiere on 7 March that the opportunity arose to go a step further: integrating a large-format Traulux LED display directly into the stage. And so Corentena: Game Over, the first theatrical video game in history, was born.

The T-Rent 3.9 L cabinets stand out for their excellent image quality and toughness, making them the ideal choice for settings where installations are temporary but demanding. Their ease of assembly, dismantling and transport fits perfectly with the needs of Corentena: Game Over, which will tour eight Galician cities between March and June. More venues will be added in the autumn to keep bringing this innovative theatre experience to audiences. The cabinets also feature corner protectors that prevent damage to the LED lamps and masks, ensuring greater durability.

Video processing is handled by Novastar electronics supplied by Charmex. The VX1000 and VX600 processors bring precision to the experience. These devices feature scaling, low latency and 3D to deliver excellent image display.

Thanks to the addition of these LED cabinets and their advanced electronics, Ainé will be able to extend its use of this technology to future shows and events, both indoor and outdoor. One of the next stages will be the Castelo Conta festival, one of Galicia's most prominent cultural events, which celebrates its tenth edition next August.

The combination of artistic talent, cutting-edge technology and a shared vision between Ainé and Sonpress has given rise to a theatre experience never seen before in Galicia. Thanks to Traulux displays, with their exceptional image quality and robustness, this partnership points the way towards a more immersive, interactive form of theatre, adapted to the new languages of entertainment.
