The new 3Catinfo studio of Televisió de Catalunya (TV3), part of the Corporació Catalana de Mitjans Audiovisuals (CCMA), opened last September with a technological staging that marks a turning point in television production.

A space that combines innovation, sustainability and unprecedented visual quality, conceived for the channel's flagship programme: the "Telenotícies" in all its editions.

TV3 chooses Traulux MiniLED technology for its flagship programme

For an intensive 24/7 broadcasting environment, TV3 has placed its trust in Traulux T-Rent MiniLED technology, with a 1.9 mm pitch, offering high brightness, energy efficiency and 99.5% DCI-P3 colour coverage, ensuring accurate colour reproduction and a flawless on-camera image.

The heart of the studio is a 147 m² perimeter LED display (42 × 3.5 m) that wraps around three quarters of the studio and creates an immersive environment of great visual impact.

This is joined by three vertical totem-style displays (2.5 × 3.5 m), two mobile units on the walls and a central rotating display (180º 360º), known as the “giratutto”, a pioneering solution in news environments worldwide.

Comprehensive design with the Traulux T-Rent family

The project combines different cabinet models from the Traulux T-Rent family, able to adapt to the scenographic needs of the studio:

  • Perimeter display: a combination of T-Rent MiniLED and T-Rent Flex, which allows continuous curved surfaces with no visual breaks.
  • Totems and giratutto: integration of T-Rent VR, with a 90º convex design that provides lateral continuity and a unique wraparound finish.
This versatility has allowed the CCMA's technical teams to configure a dynamic, modular visual environment, true to the contemporary language of the Telenotícies.

NovaStar COEX processors: precision and absolute control

To manage the video system, the studio features the new NovaStar COEX series, the latest generation of professional LED processors.

The system is made up of two COEX MX-6000 processors, configured in Master and Backup mode, and a network of CVT10-S optical transceivers, guaranteeing stability, redundancy and operational flexibility.

The use of the COEX series has been key to achieving a refresh rate of 7680 Hz and 99.5% DCI-P3 colour depth. Thanks to the 22-bit algorithm of the A10s Pro receiving cards, outstanding greyscale is achieved, essential for the visual fidelity demanded by a news studio such as the Telenotícies.

A new technological benchmark in television

The combination of Traulux T-Rent LED displays and NovaStar COEX processors has resulted in a cutting-edge studio that positions TV3 and the CCMA as European benchmarks in audiovisual innovation.

“We are very pleased with the integration of this technology, which not only enhances the visual storytelling of the Telenotícies but also positions the CCMA as a pioneer in adopting innovative solutions for television production”, says Pauli Subirà i Claramunt, director d’Imatge i Serveis Artístics at the CCMA.
